ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) strengthened data partnerships to support national development and evidence-based policymaking. These data partnerships aim to improve access to reliable statistics and foster smarter planning. PBS signed MoUs with key government agencies during DataFest 2025, themed “Unlocking Tomorrow with AI.” The event featured over 60 interactive stalls and 30 workshops to promote learning, innovation, and collaboration across sectors.
The MoUs include partnerships with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, and National Price Monitoring Committee. PBS also collaborated with Balochistan’s Planning & Development Department. These agreements focus on sharing data, policy research, and fostering innovative solutions. By strengthening these data partnerships, the government aims to create a connected and efficient national data ecosystem.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal highlighted data’s key role in development and efficient resource planning. He emphasized that evidence-based policy helps optimize government and public resources. Secretary Planning Awais Manzur Sumra recognized PBS’s work in major projects like the Population & Housing Census 2023 and Integrated Agricultural Census. PBS Chief Statistician Dr Naeem-uz-Zafar called data a national asset and stressed the importance of collaboration for sustainable growth.
The event also encouraged youth participation through quizzes, poster competitions, and a Youth Data Fair to foster innovative, data-driven solutions. PBS Member Sarwar Gondal urged the youth to embrace curiosity, critical thinking, and evidence-based knowledge. International delegates from UNICEF, UNFPA, World Bank, FAO, UNHCR, and UNDP shared insights and reinforced collaboration for national development.

Global participants including NSO Azerbaijan, SESRIC, and World Pop UK attended along with leading universities and IT companies. These data partnerships will help drive informed policymaking and sustainable national growth. PBS plans to continue expanding such collaborations to strengthen evidence-based development across Pakistan.
