PCB denies reports on finalising new PSL team cities

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday dismissed media reports claiming that two city names for the new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises had been finalised. The board clarified that no such decision has been made and that the selection of team names will be determined by the successful bidders.

In its statement, the PCB explained that franchise buyers will have the freedom to choose a name from the list of shortlisted cities. Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit remain the six options shared earlier by the board.

The PCB added that it welcomes the increasing interest from potential investors looking to acquire rights for the two new teams. PSL CEO Salman Naseer had already announced last month that an auction would be held ahead of the 11th edition, with bidders allowed to select their preferred city name from the given pool.

The board also highlighted that public tenders for the new franchises were advertised globally on November 15, 2025. Interested parties have until December 15, 2025, at 11am to submit their technical proposals.
