Pakistan’s salt exports to China surged 26% in the first ten months of 2025, reaching $6.04 million. Shipments rose from $4.79 million during the same period last year, according to Chinese customs data. Export volumes totaled 39.93 million kilograms during this period.
Analysts attribute the growth to rising demand for both industrial and food-grade salt. Himalayan pink salt, in particular, has gained popularity in China due to its mineral content and growing use in food and wellness products.

Industry experts also noted that improved trade facilitation and smoother shipping processes helped boost exports. Enhanced branding efforts by Pakistani producers have further strengthened the product’s visibility and appeal in Chinese markets.
The data comes ahead of the Food and Agri Expo in Karachi, scheduled from November 25 to 27. A Chinese business delegation is expected to attend, where Pakistani salt producers will explore new export contracts and potential joint ventures.
