Fortnite Chapter Seven: Pacific Break debuts with tidal wave gameplay

Published on: December 1, 2025 1:24 PM

Epic Games has launched Fortnite’s Chapter Seven: Pacific Break, a sun-soaked season promising one of the most radical evolutions of the game in years. The update reintroduces core mechanics, a revamped map, and new gameplay meta, drawing over 10.5 million concurrent players on launch day.

The new chapter features the Golden Coat, a vibrant map praised for its “perfect size,” designed to foster consistent action. Key Points of Interest include Battlewood Boulevard, Sandy Strip, and Wonkeeland. The iconic Battle Bus has been replaced with “Storm Surfing,” where players ride massive tidal waves on surfboards before launching into matches. Ground mobility has also been enhanced with Wingsuits and drivable hot balloons.

Chapter Seven introduces several gameplay innovations aimed at making combat and survival more dynamic. Players can activate rift anomalies mid-match, gaining powers such as temporary invisibility while crouched. The season also brings Drivable Reboot Vans to relocate squad revival stations and a “self-revive device” that allows downed players to recover while in the “Down But Not Out” state, offering rolling, sprinting, zipline access, and vehicle interaction.

The weapon roster has been refreshed with new arsenal options, including Twin Hammer Shotguns, the scoped Deadeye Assault Rifle, the Forsaken Vow Blade, and the Arc-Lightning Gun for area control. The Battle Pass features major crossovers, such as Uma Thurman’s Bride from Kill Bill and Marty McFly from Back to the Future, alongside original characters Miles Cross, Cat Holloway, and a reimagined Dark Voyager skin.

While the core Battle Royale experience is live, additional modes will follow. Reload mode launches December 4 with the “Surf City” map, Fortnite OG returns on December 11, and Ranked modes will arrive shortly after. The season is further enriched by The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge, an animated short directed by Quentin Tarantino in the Fortnite engine, tying into the Kill Bill narrative.
