Dense fog forced authorities to close a major section of Motorway M-5 on Wednesday. The closure affected the stretch from Multan Shershah Interchange to Zahir Pir. Motorway Police officials confirmed the shutdown after visibility dropped sharply. They said the decision was made for public safety. The fog created hazardous driving conditions throughout the region.

According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, visibility reached dangerous levels. He said the closure was a precautionary step to protect lives and property. The spokesperson stressed that no traffic movement was allowed on the affected section. He added that the route would reopen only when visibility improves. Drivers were warned to avoid unnecessary travel.

Motorway Police issued a fresh advisory for all road users. They urged motorists to maintain strict lane discipline during fog. Officers warned that lane violations can cause serious and sudden accidents. They said careless driving becomes even more deadly in low visibility. The advisory was shared across multiple platforms for public awareness.

Authorities also advised citizens to plan their journeys during daytime. They said the safest travel window in foggy weather is from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. They recommended avoiding early-morning and late-night travel. Police said these hours pose the highest risk due to thick fog. Travelers were asked to stay updated on road conditions.

Drivers were told to use fog lights on all highways. They were also instructed to keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Police urged motorists to reduce speed at all times. They advised avoiding sudden lane changes or overtaking. Officers reminded drivers to delay travel until conditions improve.

The spokesperson called for public patience during the fog season. He said the weather pattern may cause repeated closures. He requested drivers to cooperate with enforcement teams. He also urged commuters to follow official travel guidelines. Police teams are already deployed along the motorway to assist travelers.

Motorway Police encouraged motorists to seek help when needed. They reminded the public to call the helpline at 130 for guidance. Officers said timely updates can prevent accidents. They also stressed the importance of staying alert on fog-covered roads. Authorities promised continued monitoring of the weather and traffic situation.
