Govt to ensure foolproof security on Christmas: spokesperson

Published on: December 17, 2025 1:31 AM

In response to a formal letter by Spokesperson for the Government of Sindh and Member Sindh Human Rights Commission, Mr. Sukhdev Hemnani, the Inspector General of Sindh Police has directed all concerned authorities to ensure foolproof and preventive security measures, along with effective traffic arrangements, at churches, places of worship and communal spaces of the Christian community across Sindh on the occasion of Christmas.

The letter to IG Sindh emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and coordinated security planning, while highlighting constitutional guarantees under Article 9 (right to life and liberty), Article 20 (freedom of religion), Article 25 (equality before law) and Article 36 (protection of minorities). Accordingly, all DIGs and SSPs have been instructed to implement comprehensive security and traffic management plans.

He stressed that the protection of religious minorities and their places of worship is a constitutional responsibility and a core priority of the Sindh Government. Hemnani further stated that under the inclusive leadership of Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh Government continues to take proactive and institutional measures to safeguard minority rights and promote interfaith harmony. He affirmed that the Sindh Government will remain fully vigilant throughout the Christmas period and that all concerned departments have been directed to ensure a safe, peaceful and secure environment across the province.
