As Pakistan enters 2026 with renewed economic focus, SMEDA has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen the SME ecosystem by expanding access to finance, digital training, formalisation, and export readiness nationwide. The authority plans to scale implementation after a year marked by institutional reforms, targeted initiatives, and increased engagement with entrepreneurs, startups, and women-led businesses.
Over the past year, SMEDA worked closely with the Ministry of Industries and Production to reduce financing gaps and improve business resilience across regions. Through partnerships with microfinance institutions, it helped small enterprises gain credit access, improve financial literacy, and connect more effectively with formal banking channels.

At the same time, SMEDA intensified efforts to boost export readiness by equipping SMEs with tools to meet international standards and expand globally. A new certification and accreditation grant programme aims to lower compliance costs, improve product quality, and open access to foreign markets.
Women entrepreneurship remained a central priority, as SMEDA advanced Pakistan’s first National Women’s Entrepreneurship Policy and supported inclusion through training, digital access, and market linkages. Collaborations with chambers of commerce brought women-led business challenges directly to policymakers, strengthening coordinated solutions nationwide.

Meanwhile, SMEDA also focused on data-driven policymaking and international outreach by signing agreements to improve SME data sharing and participating in global trade platforms. These efforts expanded Pakistan’s SME visibility, explored new partnerships, and promoted integration into emerging sectors such as biotechnology and electric vehicles.
Looking ahead, SMEDA is finalising a three-year business roadmap aimed at raising SME contributions to GDP, boosting exports, and expanding women’s participation. The plan also includes hosting a national SME cluster expo in 2026 to showcase innovation, investment potential, and enterprise excellence.
