Israeli police have issued an arrest warrant for Israel Einhorn, a former aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, citing his alleged involvement in two cases linked to the premier’s office. Einhorn, who now resides in Serbia, is named in the so-called “Bild affair” and the “Qatargate” scandal.

According to court documents, Einhorn is barred from communicating with Netanyahu’s office pending the execution of the warrant. A police spokesperson confirmed the authenticity of the order.

The Bild affair centers on the leak of classified Israeli military intelligence to the German tabloid Bild in September 2024. Two other aides to Netanyahu were previously arrested and indicted in connection with the leak. The case alleged that Hamas was not interested in a ceasefire and that the prisoners captured by the group on October 7, 2023, could only be released through military pressure rather than negotiations.
Einhorn has not returned to Israel since the investigation began but was questioned by Israeli authorities in Serbia last year.
In addition, Einhorn is implicated in the “Qatargate” scandal, which alleges that he and other close associates of Netanyahu were recruited by Qatar to promote the Gulf nation’s image in Israel. Qatar, which hosts senior Hamas leaders, has played a mediating role between Israel and Hamas during conflicts in Gaza and reportedly provided millions in cash monthly between 2018 and October 2023 for civil servant salaries and aid to Palestinian families.
The arrest warrant comes shortly after police detained a current senior aide to Netanyahu on suspicion of obstructing an investigation. Local media reports identified the aide as Tzachi Braverman, the prime minister’s chief of staff.
