Iran vows decisive response to any attack

Published on: January 21, 2026 6:30 PM

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has warned that any new attack on Iran will face a decisive response. He said Iran showed restraint in June 2025, but will retaliate with full force if attacked again. Araqchi stressed that this statement is a fact, not a threat.

Writing in a US newspaper, Araqchi said aggressive American actions against Iran have failed. He added that Iran remains capable of defending itself and protecting its sovereignty. According to him, Tehran’s patience should not be mistaken for weakness.

The foreign minister said Iran exercised restraint and responsibility during previous tensions. However, he warned that renewed aggression would trigger a strong and comprehensive response. He emphasized that Iran will use all its power to defend national interests.

Araqchi cautioned that any war would not remain limited to Iran. He said a wider conflict would engulf the entire region and harm civilians worldwide. He warned that instability would damage global peace and security.

He urged the United States to change its approach toward Iran. Araqchi said dialogue must be based on mutual respect rather than pressure. He added that diplomacy remains possible if respect and realism prevail.
