Interior Minister fixes shocking NADRA error

Published on: January 31, 2026 9:15 PM

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi intervened after a citizen’s complaint that NADRA incorrectly declared his wife dead. He conducted an unannounced inspection at the 24-hour Defence NADRA Center in Karachi. The minister emphasized that system delays would be permanently resolved.

During the visit, Naqvi interacted directly with citizens who reported long waiting times and service delays. He listened carefully and assured immediate action on all pending complaints. Officials were instructed to upgrade the NADRA system to ensure timely and accurate services.

One serious case involved a living wife mistakenly declared dead. The minister ordered the authorities to correct the death certificate on the spot. In another case, a woman’s CNIC had the wrong name, which was also immediately corrected without extra charges.

Naqvi personally visited multiple service counters and met staff, directing them to process documents efficiently. He stressed that citizens should not make repeated visits to obtain basic identification documents. The minister highlighted the importance of citizen-friendly services and accuracy in official records.

He added that the government is committed to streamlining NADRA processes, ensuring transparency, and improving service quality across Pakistan. The visit reflects active monitoring to restore public trust in national documentation services.
