Published on: February 9, 2026 4:35 AM

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has directed the Sindh Police to immediately formulate and submit for review a comprehensive, foolproof and extraordinary Ramazan Contingency Plan to ensure the maintenance of law and order across the province and to safeguard the lives and property of citizens during the holy month of Ramadan 2026.

The Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar instructed that, in view of the sanctity of Ramadan, security be placed on high alert in all districts of the province. Adequate and effective police deployment must be ensured at mosques, imambargahs, shrines, dargahs, and open congregations for Taraweeh prayers so that worshippers may perform their religious obligations without fear.

He further directed that during Sehri and Iftar hours, additional police mobiles, motorcycle squads, and foot patrols be deployed at markets, shopping areas, commercial centers, and other crowded locations to effectively prevent street crime and other criminal activities.

Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also instructed that checking and patrolling be further strengthened and organized at key highways, entry and exit points, and sensitive locations. He emphasized accelerating search and combing operations based on intelligence reports and maintaining strict vigilance over suspicious elements and criminal groups.

The Home Minister directed a special crackdown to curb incidents of street crime, robbery, and theft, making it clear that strict and impartial action will be taken in accordance with the law against criminal elements and organized gangs.

He stressed the need to modernize the security framework through effective CCTV monitoring, the use of modern technology, and proactive field patrolling. Additionally, Traffic Police have been instructed to ensure smooth traffic flow during Iftar hours, facilitate citizens, and make special arrangements to handle any emergency situation.

The Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar further directed district officers to remain present in the field, continuously monitor security arrangements, and ensure daily reporting.

The Home Minister has appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to Police Helpline 15 or the nearest police station and to fully cooperate with the police in maintaining peace and security during the holy month of Ramazan.
