Bilawal condemns ‘smear campaign’ against Sindh govt

Published on: February 28, 2026 2:35 AM

The Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said that Sindh is the only province where local government elections are held on time, and it is the only province where the local government system is functioning.

The Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while addressing an iftar dinner hosted by Larkana Mayor Anwar Ali Lohar, said that he was grateful to the mayor for providing the opportunity to meet the public.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that local government representatives in Larkana have played a full and active role. This time, the youngest chairman, Anwar Lohar, was made mayor, and he works very hard.

The Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party said that being the mayor of Larkana is a very difficult job, and that in Sindh, local government representatives have been given full authority, whereas other provinces cannot even enact legislation regarding the local government system.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the smear campaign against the government is driven by the same mindset that wants to separate Karachi. He added that his representatives are serving the public at the federal, provincial, and local government levels.

He said that such elements have failed in the past and will fail again. He congratulated the local government representatives of Larkana and said that Pakistan is facing many challenges.

Bilawal Bhutto said that a wave of terrorism has been ongoing in the country, and that Afghanistan carried out an attack on Pakistan, to which the country’s brave armed forces responded forcefully, and he saluted them.

He paid tribute to martyrs Amjad Khan and Hazrat Allah and urged authorities to take all possible measures to ensure the safe recovery of abducted government official Saeed Akhtar.

He said that at this time, we must rise above political interests. Given the manner in which attacks are taking place from Afghanistan and India, there is a need for us to be on the same page and speak with one voice.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that all political parties should set aside their differences and unite for the country’s security.

Meanwhile, Bilawal met Ameer Bakhsh Khan Bhutto, son of former Chief Minister of Sindh Mumtaz Bhutto, at Bhutto House in Naudero.

Ameer Bakhsh offered condolences to Bilawal on the passing of his grandfather, Rais Hakim Ali Zardari.
