Maryam Nawaz strengthens China ties with CPEC focused diplomacy

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz held an important meeting in Lahore with newly appointed Chinese Consul General Sun Yan, where both sides reaffirmed the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China. The discussion highlighted the enduring strategic partnership and mutual trust that continue to shape bilateral relations across multiple sectors.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz warmly welcomed the new envoy and appreciated China’s consistent support in strengthening economic cooperation and regional stability. She also accepted an invitation to visit China, signaling her intent to further enhance diplomatic engagement and explore new avenues of collaboration that align with Punjab’s long-term development goals.

Moreover, both sides placed special emphasis on advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, recognizing it as a cornerstone of economic progress and regional connectivity. They discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, infrastructure, energy, and information technology, aiming to create sustainable growth and attract more foreign investment into Punjab’s evolving economy.

In addition, Maryam Nawaz outlined her government’s vision for economic expansion through industrial development, improved logistics corridors, and stronger technical partnerships. She stressed that enhanced cooperation with China could accelerate these efforts, enabling Punjab to modernize its industries and improve employment opportunities while maintaining steady economic momentum.

Meanwhile, Consul General Sun Yan described Pakistan-China relations as a model of strategic trust, mutual respect, and unwavering solidarity. He expressed confidence that continued collaboration between the Punjab government and the Chinese Consulate would further deepen ties, especially in cultural exchange programs and people-to-people connections that strengthen diplomatic relations.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to broaden cooperation at multiple levels, ensuring that both countries benefit from their longstanding partnership. As engagement continues to grow, this renewed focus on CPEC and economic collaboration is expected to play a vital role in shaping the region’s future development and prosperity.
