Pakistan, Malaysia urge peace amid rising tensions in Gulf region

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Friday, exchanging Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and calling for calm amid escalating hostilities in Iran and the Gulf region.

During their discussion, both leaders emphasized the need for de-escalation of conflicts, stressing joint efforts to promote peace and stability in the region while praying for the unity and harmony of the Ummah.

They expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in bilateral relations, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-Malaysia ties and working together on diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and fostering dialogue.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif also spoke with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, conveying heartfelt Eid greetings and reiterating Pakistan’s solidarity with Azerbaijan amid regional challenges and security concerns.

Both leaders discussed ongoing hostilities in the Gulf and Iran, highlighting the importance of cooperation, diplomatic engagement, and maintaining peace to prevent further escalation of conflicts affecting regional stability.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned attacks against Azerbaijan, expressed unwavering support for its people, and underscored Pakistan’s readiness to collaborate with international partners in promoting security, unity, and peaceful resolution of disputes.
