Timothée Chalamet skips ‘Dune 3’ premiere amid oscar, media buzz

Published on: March 20, 2026 7:31 PM

Timothée Chalamet was notably absent from the Los Angeles launch of Dune: Part Three, with insiders revealing the decision was intentional to avoid drawing attention away from the film’s debut.

Sources explained the exclusion followed Chalamet’s high-profile loss at the 98th Academy Awards to Michael B. Jordan, combined with tabloid focus on his relationship with Kylie Jenner, which the studio feared could overshadow the premiere.

Industry insiders emphasized that the move was not related to his performance in Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster franchise but rather aimed at minimizing media distractions and keeping the spotlight firmly on the film and co-stars.

The premiere featured Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, who were present to promote the movie, with the cast reportedly relieved that the focus remained on the trilogy rather than personal controversies surrounding Chalamet.

Although absent physically, Chalamet contributed via a pre-recorded video message, expressing gratitude to Villeneuve and the Dune team while maintaining a professional tone despite the ongoing media frenzy.

The studio’s strategy reflects a broader effort in Hollywood to shield major releases from external distractions, ensuring that box office reception and critical reviews remain centered on the project itself.
