Speaking at an event in Las Vegas, Trump said the conflict was not his preferred course of action but was driven by concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme. He described Iran as a “great country” but maintained that military action became necessary under the circumstances.
“The war should end very soon, and it is going to end in a good way,” Trump said, adding that the United States was on the verge of a decisive outcome. He claimed that American forces had successfully countered a recent attack involving 111 rockets fired at a US naval vessel, stating that all incoming threats were intercepted.
Highlighting US military capabilities, Trump said the country possesses the “best military in the world” and continues to enhance its technological edge. He credited advanced defence systems and military preparedness for the claimed successes during the conflict.
The US president also acknowledged that the ongoing tensions have affected the economy, noting concerns about rising oil prices. However, he suggested that fears of crude oil reaching $300 per barrel had not materialised.
Drawing comparisons with past conflicts in Vietnam and Afghanistan, Trump emphasised that the current war would not be prolonged. He reiterated that a resolution was expected in the near future.
