China backs Pakistan diplomatic mediation efforts

China on Tuesday backed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate engagement between the United States and Iran. The support highlights growing regional cooperation to sustain peace and stability. The development places Pakistan at the center of sensitive diplomatic efforts affecting regional security.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong conveyed Beijing’s support during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. He appreciated Pakistan’s consistent role in promoting dialogue between Washington and Tehran. Moreover, he stressed that such initiatives are vital for broader regional stability.

The meeting comes as Pakistan prepares to host another round of negotiations between the United States and Iran. These talks aim to advance a potential peace agreement following a temporary ceasefire. The current ceasefire is set to expire on April 21, increasing diplomatic urgency.

Dar reaffirmed the strength of the Pakistan–China strategic partnership during the discussion. He emphasized the importance of continued high-level exchanges to deepen mutual cooperation. Additionally, both sides highlighted shared interests in maintaining regional peace and coordination.

Earlier, Dar also spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on regional developments. Both leaders stressed dialogue as key to stability and agreed to remain in close contact. The engagements reflect Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach in a tense regional environment.
