The Pentagon may not be giving full details about the Iran war to President Donald Trump, according to a report by the American magazine The Atlantic. The report raises concerns about the accuracy and completeness of military briefings provided to top US leadership.
According to the report, US Vice President JD Vance repeatedly questioned Pentagon briefings in closed-door meetings. Moreover, he raised concerns directly with Trump about declining US missile stockpiles and the reliability of military updates during ongoing tensions with Iran.
Two senior officials told the magazine that Vance challenged the accuracy of information shared by the Pentagon. In addition, he specifically highlighted concerns about missile system availability and warned Trump about a noticeable reduction in US defense reserves.

Intelligence assessments cited in the report suggest Iran still maintains significant military capabilities. These include most of its air force, missile launch systems, and fast-attack boats capable of mining waters and targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Furthermore, the report claims that about half of Iran’s missile launchers became active again after a ceasefire. Meanwhile, concerns also grew over briefing styles within the Pentagon, as some officials allegedly shaped information to match political expectations, raising fears about transparency in the Iran war updates.
