PM Shehbaz introduces “Apna Ghar” program launch

Published on: April 29, 2026 4:16 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched the “Apna Ghar” housing program in Pakistan. The scheme offers homes or plots on 20-year installment plans. It aims to support low and middle-income citizens seeking affordable housing access.

The program allows citizens to purchase a 10-marla house or plot through subsidized financing. Loan amounts range from 2.5 million to 10 million rupees. The initiative seeks to ease Pakistan’s growing housing shortage.

Under the scheme, the loan repayment period is set at 20 years. A fixed five percent markup will apply for the first ten years. After that, standard market markup rates will apply for the remaining period.

Authorities said borrowers must have no major outstanding loans to qualify. The scheme requires only 10 percent down payment from applicants. The remaining 90 percent will be financed through participating financial institutions.

The loans will be processed through Islamic banks, commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and housing finance companies. Officials said applications will be submitted online and approved within one month. The program is supervised by the State Bank of Pakistan and housing authorities to ensure transparency.
