Iran’s Supreme Leader Rejects US Role in Gulf Security

Published on: May 1, 2026 5:33 AM

Mojtaba Khamenei

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said the Gulf future would be bright without US presence, stressing regional independence. He stated that neighboring countries share a common destiny and should work together without foreign interference in regional affairs.

Moreover, in a statement published by Islamic Republic News Agency, he said a new chapter is emerging in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed recent conflicts exposed weaknesses in US strategies in the region.

Furthermore, he argued that US military presence has been a major source of instability. He blamed both the United States and Israel for increasing tensions through military actions. He added that foreign bases have failed to provide security even to their own allies.
