Bilawal pushes diplomacy over war

Published on: May 5, 2026 9:53 PM

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said diplomacy is the only way to resolve tensions between Iran and the United States. He made the remarks during a BBC interview amid rising regional instability. He stressed that war is not a solution and warned that continued conflict could threaten global peace and economic stability. He said the situation affects energy markets and broader international security.

He said enforcing a ceasefire is difficult in any conflict, while maintaining it requires commitment from all sides. He added that extending peace agreements depends on sustained dialogue and trust-building. He emphasized that diplomacy must continue even during periods of heightened tension. He said talks remain the most practical path to de-escalation.

Bilawal noted that disruptions in oil supply are already impacting global inflation. He said Pakistan is in contact with relevant stakeholders to reduce tensions in the region. He highlighted confidence-building measures as an important step toward stability. He also pointed to recent diplomatic actions as positive developments.

He condemned recent attacks and warned they could undermine peace efforts further. He said any aggression weakens ceasefire arrangements and increases instability. He criticized US policy and warned against military escalation in the Strait of Hormuz. He also said some Iranian actions have contributed to rising tensions in the region.
