Iran’s UN envoy strongly criticized the UN Security Council for failing to address the US-Israeli war against Tehran. Amir Saeid Iravani accused the council of remaining silent despite what he called serious international law violations. Moreover, he warned that continued inaction threatened global peace and encouraged further aggression in the region.
Addressing the Security Council, Iravani blamed the United States and Israel for committing grave violations during the ongoing conflict. He stated that countries supporting or facilitating the attacks must face full international and legal responsibility. Furthermore, he accused a permanent Security Council member of obstructing efforts to hold aggressors accountable for the violence. According to Iranian media, Iravani described the council’s silence as complicity in the unfolding crisis.

The Iranian envoy also condemned repeated threats allegedly made by US President Donald Trump against Iran. He said such rhetoric created a dangerous international precedent and increased regional instability during already tense conditions. In addition, Iravani listed several threats, including attacks on Iran’s infrastructure, nuclear scientists, senior officials, and economic facilities. He argued that normalizing such statements by a global power endangered international peace and diplomatic efforts.
Meanwhile, Iravani claimed civilians continued suffering because of deliberate attacks and destruction of civilian infrastructure during the conflict. He said the situation reflected systematic violations of international humanitarian law across multiple regional conflict zones. Moreover, he highlighted the reported destruction of a girls’ school in Minab, where more than 168 students allegedly died. He called the attack a war crime rather than collateral damage during military operations.

Regional tensions sharply increased after US and Israeli strikes against Iran began on February 28 this year. Iran later responded with attacks targeting Israel, Gulf allies, and shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. Although a ceasefire took effect through Pakistani mediation in April, lasting peace negotiations remain unresolved. Finally, President Trump stated negotiations were nearing completion but said he remained in no hurry to finalize them.
