CTPL bans daytime entry of oil tankers, heavy vehicles

Published on: June 7, 2026 3:14 AM

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi has imposed a ban on the entry of oil tankers and all heavy vehicles into the provincial capital during daytime hours to improve public safety and ensure smooth traffic flow across the city. According to a spokesman for CTPL, no heavy vehicle will be allowed to enter Lahore before 11:00 pm, while heavy traffic will only be permitted to operate within city limits between 11:00 pm and 6:30 am. All heavy vehicles will be required to leave the city within the prescribed timeframe. The CTO said the decision had been taken in view of increasing traffic congestion and the growing risk of road accidents involving heavy vehicles. He added that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against violations and legal action would be taken against drivers and transporters found breaching the restrictions. CTO Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said the initiative aimed to provide citizens with a safer travel environment, improve traffic mobility and reduce the incidence of fatal road accidents. He expressed the hope that the measure would help ease congestion on major roads and enhance road safety for commuters throughout Lahore. He said that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remained the top priority of Lahore Traffic Police, adding that strict enforcement of traffic regulations would continue to ensure safe, organized and convenient travel facilities for the public.
