Muharram moon sighting

Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the moon for Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH was not sighted anywhere in the country. As a result, the first day of Muharram will fall on June 17. According to the committee, no credible reports of the Muharram moon sighting were received from any part of Pakistan.

The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Lahore under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. Religious scholars, representatives of the Meteorological Department, and other relevant officials participated in the session to review moon sighting reports from across the country.

Following the meeting, Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced that no authenticated testimony confirming the sighting of the moon had been received. Therefore, the first of Muharram will be observed on June 17, while Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, will be observed on Friday, June 26.

During his remarks, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad also praised Pakistan’s leadership, including the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal, for their efforts on national and international matters. He stated that the nation would remain united against any threats and paid tribute to the country’s armed forces.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates announced that the Muharram moon sighting had been confirmed in their countries. According to the Saudi Supreme Court and the UAE Fatwa Council, the first day of Muharram will be observed on June 16, while Ashura will fall on June 25.
