Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasizing continued diplomatic efforts during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni, in Islamabad.
According to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, the two ministers held detailed discussions on bilateral relations and the evolving regional situation. The meeting took place during the visit of an Iranian delegation led by President Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in Pakistan following the recent US-Iran agreement aimed at ending hostilities in the Middle East.
During the talks, both sides expressed satisfaction over the recent de-escalation of tensions in the region. Naqvi congratulated Momeni on the joint statement issued after the US-Iran negotiations held in Switzerland, describing the agreement as a significant step toward regional peace.
The Pakistani interior minister said Pakistan has consistently advocated for peace and stability and would continue supporting efforts that contribute to a durable resolution of conflicts in the Middle East. He expressed hope that the latest agreement would produce positive outcomes for regional security and cooperation.
The two countries also agreed to expand collaboration in several key areas, including security, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and immigration management. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional cooperation to address shared challenges and enhance regional stability.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions. He also announced plans to undertake a detailed visit to Pakistan in the near future to further deepen cooperation between the interior ministries of both countries.
The meeting follows high-level engagements between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistan’s leadership, including separate meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan and Iran would stand together against efforts to undermine regional peace, while President Pezeshkian called for stronger unity among Muslim nations and a new framework for regional security cooperation.
