Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has called for the modernisation of warfare techniques and tools to strengthen Pakistan’s maritime capabilities amid evolving security challenges. He stressed the need to reassess traditional combat concepts in light of rapidly changing modern conflict dynamics. His remarks reflect the Navy’s focus on innovation and strategic adaptability.

The naval chief made the comments during an address to participants of the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course at the Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore. According to an ISPR statement, he highlighted the importance of developing a technologically skilled and intellectually capable force to meet emerging challenges in the maritime domain.

Admiral Ashraf underscored that modern conflicts now require adaptive strategies capable of addressing both conventional and non-conventional threats. He pointed to the increasing complexity of the global security environment and the need for continuous professional development within the armed forces.

Reaffirming the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to innovation and indigenisation, he emphasised strengthening domestic capabilities in defence technology and operational planning. He also highlighted the importance of inter-service coordination to enhance overall military effectiveness.

The naval chief noted that the Indian Ocean region remains strategically contested due to shifting geopolitical rivalries. He urged officers to enhance their analytical skills and operational foresight to effectively respond to future maritime security challenges and maintain Pakistan’s influence at sea.
