ATC awards 16-month imprisonment in hate material case

Published on: June 25, 2026 3:35 AM

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday sentenced an accused to 16 months imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 75,000 after finding him guilty of collecting donations and distributing hate material on behalf of a proscribed organisation. ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill announced the verdict after the prosecution successfully proved the charges against the accused, Syed Muhammad. The accused, who was produced before the court from jail, was convicted under relevant provisions of the law. According to the prosecution, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Lahore had registered a case against Syed Muhammad in 2025 on allegations of collecting funds and distributing hate literature linked to a banned outfit.
