Karachi is expected to experience humid weather, partly cloudy skies and light drizzle at isolated locations during the morning and night over the next 24 hours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The weather department said sea breezes are continuing to blow across the city at a speed of around 15 kilometres per hour, providing some relief from the humid conditions. The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C, while the minimum temperature recorded on Saturday morning was 29°C. Humidity levels stood at 78%, contributing to a muggy atmosphere across the metropolis.
The PMD said light drizzle may occur in some areas, particularly during the early morning and late-night hours, although no widespread rainfall is expected.
Meanwhile, weather conditions differ across other parts of the country. In Peshawar, clear skies are prevailing, with the mercury expected to climb as high as 41°C during the day. The city’s minimum temperature was recorded at 26°C, while humidity remained at 43%.
The PMD has forecast rain in most upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next 24 hours, whereas hot and dry weather is expected to continue across the province’s plains.
According to the department’s monthly outlook, Pakistan is likely to experience above-normal temperatures during June, particularly across southern regions, including Sindh, eastern Balochistan and central Punjab.
The PMD also noted that Sindh received only 0.3 millimetres of rainfall in May, which was more than 91% below the long-term average. The province’s average temperature remained around one degree Celsius above normal during the month.
Although near-normal to slightly below-normal rainfall is expected across much of the country in June, the PMD warned that isolated heavy downpours could still trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas, while prolonged hot conditions may continue in southern Pakistan.
