Published on: June 29, 2026 2:44 AM

 Sichuan earthquake

A Sichuan earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck China’s Sichuan Province, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The quake was detected by seismic monitoring agencies, which confirmed its magnitude and relatively shallow depth. Earthquakes of this depth can often be felt across nearby areas, depending on local conditions.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant property damage following the earthquake. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and assess any potential impact.

Emergency response teams and local officials are expected to carry out inspections in affected areas to ensure public safety and evaluate any structural damage.

The Sichuan earthquake serves as another reminder of the region’s seismic activity, although no major damage or injuries had been reported at the time of the latest updates.
