Ghanaian witch doctor predicts Cape Verde shock against Argentina

Published on: June 29, 2026 8:21 PM

A well-known Ghanaian traditional spiritualist has predicted that World Cup debutants Cape Verde will produce a major upset by defeating defending champions Argentina in their Round of 32 clash. The prediction has attracted attention despite having no connection to Ghana’s own campaign at the tournament.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, who describes himself as a witch doctor, made the claim ahead of the knockout-stage encounter featuring Lionel Messi’s Argentina. His comments have quickly spread across social media, adding another unusual storyline to the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Bonsam first drew international attention during the group stage after claiming he had placed a curse on England captain Harry Kane before Ghana’s match against England. Kane failed to score in the game, leading some supporters to link the result to Bonsam’s widely discussed remarks, although there is no evidence supporting such claims.

Meanwhile, Argentina enter the match as strong favourites after completing the group stage with three consecutive victories and impressive performances. Cape Verde, however, will aim to continue its dream World Cup debut by attempting to produce one of the biggest upsets in the tournament’s history.

While Bonsam’s prediction has generated curiosity among football fans, the outcome will ultimately be decided on the pitch when the two teams meet in the Round of 32. Argentina will rely on their experience and quality, while Cape Verde will hope to make history with a memorable knockout victory.
