The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast the start of widespread monsoon rains across Pakistan during the first week of July. The weather system is expected to bring thunderstorms and rainfall to most regions between July 1 and July 6. The forecast is important for residents, farmers, and local authorities preparing for seasonal weather conditions.
According to the PMD, a western weather system is likely to enter the country from Tuesday evening or night. At the same time, moist winds from the Arabian Sea are moving into eastern and central parts of Pakistan. Additional moisture is expected to reach the upper regions from July 2, strengthening the monsoon activity across the country.
The department said most parts of Pakistan are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms during the six-day period. It also forecast light thunderstorms and rain for Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Larkana on July 3 and 4. Authorities have advised the public to remain aware of changing weather conditions during the expected monsoon spell.
For Karachi, the PMD said no significant rainfall is expected until July 13. However, the city is likely to experience partly cloudy and humid weather over the next three days. Light drizzle may occur in some areas, while winds are expected to blow at speeds between 30 and 40 kilometres per hour.
The PMD regularly issues weather advisories during the monsoon season to help authorities and the public prepare for heavy rainfall and possible weather-related disruptions. Officials are expected to continue monitoring the evolving weather system and provide updated forecasts if conditions change.
