A US military base in Jordan reportedly served as a key regional hub for American operations against Iran during the final stages of the recent conflict, according to Russian media.
Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti, citing unnamed sources, reported that the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan played a central role during the closing phase of the 60-day war. The report claimed the base was used as a major operational center for US military activities against Iran.
According to the sources, the United States relied heavily on the Jordanian air base because it had limited alternatives for conducting operations in the region during the conflict.
The report also claimed that two close US allies in the Gulf, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, did not allow American military aircraft to use their airspace, increasing Washington’s dependence on the Jordan-based facility.
Russian media said the US military base in Jordan became an important part of American military strategy during the conflict. However, there has been no immediate official response from the United States, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, or the United Arab Emirates regarding the claims.
