The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 across Kech district for 30 days, citing the prevailing law and order situation and the need to maintain public safety.
According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Department, the restrictions came into effect in view of security concerns in the district, which includes the city of Turbat.
Under the order, all political gatherings, public meetings, demonstrations and rallies have been banned throughout the district during the 30-day period. Authorities said the restrictions are intended to help maintain peace and prevent any activities that could disrupt public order.
The notification also prohibits the public display of all types of weapons during the enforcement period. Officials said the measure is aimed at reducing security risks and ensuring a stable environment across the district.
Local authorities and law enforcement agencies have been directed to implement the restrictions and take action against violations in accordance with the law.
The latest order comes amid broader efforts by provincial governments to strengthen security measures in sensitive areas. Similar restrictions have recently been enforced in other parts of the country where authorities cited public safety and law and order concerns.
In Punjab, the provincial government has also extended Section 144 for another 30 days, maintaining a ban on outdoor drone operations due to security considerations. However, the use of small drones has been permitted for indoor events held in halls and marquees, provided organisers ensure compliance with safety requirements.
Punjab’s Home Department said intelligence agencies and law enforcement institutions are exempt from the drone restrictions, while local administrations have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the orders.
Officials in Balochistan have urged residents to cooperate with the authorities during the enforcement period, stating that the temporary measures are intended to safeguard public safety and maintain peace until the security situation improves.
