Barrister Gohar rejects CM change rumours

Published on: July 1, 2026 6:58 PM

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar on Wednesday rejected reports about replacing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. He said some people were spreading misconceptions among the public by discussing a leadership change. He added that the party remained united behind the chief minister.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Gohar said complaints had emerged regarding doctors’ recruitment in the province. However, he said the provincial health minister informed him that the hiring process was conducted transparently. He stressed that the government would address any concerns through proper channels.

Gohar also defended the provincial budget presented by the PTI-led government. He said the administration had introduced a strong budget despite political criticism. According to him, those talking about replacing the chief minister were attempting to create unnecessary doubts among the public.

The PTI chairman further said party members continued to support Sohail Afridi. He acknowledged that differences of opinion existed within the party, but clarified that no bloc had been formed against the chief minister. He said internal debate was a normal part of democratic politics.

Gohar also referred to Ali Amin Gandapur and said he had offered his resignation on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan. He added that Gandapur was not taking any action that could damage the party. The statement came amid ongoing discussions about leadership dynamics within the PTI.
