Security forces have killed four more militants during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, bringing the total number of militants eliminated in the operation to 83, according to state media citing security sources.

The large-scale operation was launched following a deadly attack on a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat district, where armed assailants reportedly abducted and killed 27 police personnel. In response, a joint security operation involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, police and the Anti-Terrorism Force was initiated to target militant hideouts in the region.
According to Pakistan Television (PTV), the latest air and ground operations resulted in the deaths of four additional militants. Security sources said the operation is continuing across various areas and will persist until all identified militant elements are eliminated.
The report added that since July 5, a total of 121 militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations carried out across the country. Authorities described the campaign as part of broader efforts to restore peace and dismantle terrorist networks operating in Balochistan.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday praised the performance of security forces, stating that the success of Operation Shaban and related intelligence-based operations demonstrates the preparedness, professionalism and operational readiness of Pakistan’s law enforcement and military institutions.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and said operations would continue against groups involved in attacks on Pakistani soil. The government refers to India-backed militant groups operating in Balochistan as “Fitna al-Hindustan”.

The latest developments come amid renewed national efforts to strengthen security in the province following a series of major terrorist incidents. Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the country’s civil and military leadership had reached a unified decision to intensify operations aimed at eradicating terrorism and ensuring long-term stability.
Security officials maintain that counterterrorism operations will continue until militant networks are dismantled and public safety is fully restored.
