Operation Shaban claims 88 militants in Balochistan, say security sources

Published on: July 15, 2026 1:23 PM

Pakistan’s security forces have killed more militants during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, with security sources saying the total number of militants killed in the operation has risen to 88.

According to security sources, the joint operation is being carried out by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan and police against militant groups operating in the province. The forces are continuing coordinated aerial and ground-based actions in different areas as part of the campaign.

Officials said recent operations resulted in the killing of additional militants, bringing the overall number of those killed during Operation Shaban to 88. Security sources further claimed that, since July 5, a total of 126 militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted across Balochistan.

The sources maintained that the operation would continue until all militants operating in the area are eliminated. They described the campaign as part of broader efforts to improve the security situation in the province and disrupt militant networks.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan and police for their role in the operation. In a statement, he commended the security personnel for their courage and professionalism, saying their actions had thwarted the plans of militant groups.

The minister also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by security forces in efforts to restore peace in Balochistan, adding that terrorism must be eradicated completely and that those responsible for violence would be pursued.

Earlier, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that 42 people, including 11 soldiers, 27 police personnel and four civilians, were killed in three separate attacks in Balochistan that were attributed to Fitna al Khwarij (FAK) and Fitna Al-Hindustan (FAH).

Security operations and investigations are continuing in different parts of the province as authorities seek to counter militant violence and strengthen regional security.
