Lahore was inundated by torrential rainfall on Thursday after 263 millimetres of rain fell in a single spell, causing widespread urban flooding, traffic disruptions and rain-related accidents across the city.

According to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), the highest rainfall was recorded in the Airport area, where 263mm of rain was measured. Other areas also received significant rainfall, including Tajpura (157.4mm), Kahna (143mm), Shadipura (136mm), Mughalpura (133mm), Mall Road (116mm), Manawan (112.2mm), Johar Town (81mm) and Chowk Nakhuda (64.6mm).
The intense downpour left several major roads and underpasses submerged under several feet of water, severely disrupting traffic across the provincial capital. Numerous vehicles and motorcycles stalled after becoming stranded in flooded streets.
In Defence Housing Authority (DHA), floodwaters rose to exceptional levels, with videos circulating on social media showing boats being used in residential areas. Water levels in one underpass reportedly reached the roof, while the Harbanspura Underpass was closed to traffic after being completely inundated.
Residents in Tajpura reported rainwater entering their homes, causing significant inconvenience and property damage. Several localities, including Canal Road near Journalists Colony, Jallo Park, Medical Scheme and Tajpura Scheme, also experienced severe flooding.
The heavy rainfall also led to tragic incidents. Near Kahna on Ferozepur Road, two brothers lost their lives after their motorcycle skidded on the slippery road and collided with an electric pole.
In a separate incident in DHA Phase IV, four people were injured when the roof of a house, reportedly constructed using steel girders, collapsed during the downpour.

Authorities continued drainage operations in affected areas while urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution as further rainfall is forecast under the ongoing monsoon spell.
