Just when everyone welcomed 2018 with open arms, the US President Donald Trump raged at Pakistan in his first tweet of 2018, saying: “The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!”
When one journalist tweeted to Trump in reply: “Happy New Year! Hope Pakistan makes it to 2019,” our very own Mahira Khan took centre stage with her own personal message embedded in a comment that said, “I hope USA does!”
