Zidane expects Madrid to suffer against PSG

Published on: March 6, 2018 9:16 PM

PARIS: Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has on Tuesday said that the he expects the club to ‘suffer’ against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the return leg of Champions league round of 16 fixture.

Madrid overpowered PSG 3 goals to 1 at Santiago Bernabeu during the first leg of the tie. Madrid frontman Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace, while left-back Marcelo scored a later third to put daylight between the defending champions and the visitors.

Speaking to a pre-match press conference, Madrid coach Zidane said that the team is prepared for the worst case scenario and that a two-goal lead does not guarantee Madrid’s qualification.

“Starting with the scoreboard in your favour does not mean anything. You must be ready for the unexpected, in your favour or against. We will suffer, suffer and play our game. The only thing we must do is play a great game ourselves,” Zidane said.

Zidane added that Madrid would field a team that is at his 100 percent and that everyone in the squad is ready to offer services against PSG.

“We must all be at 100 percent, I would never put in a player at 70 percent. Everyone who is here is going to play,” he added.

Madrid will face Paris at Parc des Princes on Wednesday as both teams look to bag a spot at UCL quarter-final.
