Forced conversion

Published on: April 10, 2019 2:08 AM

Sir: Two teenage girls Reena (14) and Raveena (16) were allegedly abducted from their hometown Daharki Sindh’s Ghotki district and were forcefully converted to Islam.

Some videos went viral on social media that drew the attention of public and government. Unfortunately, it is not the first case of its kind. It is very regrettable to add that government is still not able to curb on such issues. It is contrary to the teachings of Allah and our beloved prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and a true believer will never support such a forceful conversion.

The founding father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam MA Jinnah in his address to the first constituent assembly of Pakistan on 11th August 1947 said:” You’re free; you’re free to go to your temples; you’re free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in the state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, cast or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the state”. But, unluckily, his promise has not been kept by his successors. The white colour in the flag also shows the importance of minorities living in the country.

Every individual should have equal rights despite their caste or creed. In a nutshell, a specific law should be amended to ban force conversion and a mechanism should be devised to deal with such heinous crimes in future.
