Muhammad Rizwan wins hearts by speaking urdu during PSL toss

Published on: April 14, 2025 2:30 PM

In the third match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), Multan Sultans captain Muhammad Rizwan made headlines by choosing to speak in Urdu during the toss. This decision resonated with many fans. Rizwan confidently stated, “I’ll speak in Urdu,” before sharing his remarks in his native language.

His choice quickly went viral on social media, with fans and commentators praising his embrace of Urdu in a formal cricket setting. This moment has sparked a conversation about linguistic pride and inclusivity in Pakistani cricket. Rizwan highlighted the challenges of speaking English and expressed his intention to use Urdu in future interviews whenever possible.

During the match, Rizwan also displayed his batting skills, scoring an impressive unbeaten 105 runs. Despite his efforts, the Multan Sultans lost to Karachi, led by James Vince’s outstanding 101 runs off just 43 balls.

After the match, Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen lightened the mood with a humorous comment online. He said, “learnt something from Vince and Khushdil today!” Rizwan’s moment at the toss, however, remains a proud highlight of the match for many fans.
