Students are Pakistan’s first line of defense in information war, says DG ISPR

Published on: June 19, 2025 4:08 PM

Karachi: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, has called students the frontline warriors in Pakistan’s ongoing information war. He made these remarks during a special session with students from the Saylani IT programme in Karachi on Thursday.

The DG ISPR praised the students’ awareness and enthusiasm toward national security challenges. He highlighted their potential in combating disinformation and supporting Pakistan’s narrative through digital platforms. He also spoke about the recent success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, calling it a landmark in maintaining peace and countering India’s aggressive strategies.

Students actively participated in the session, asking meaningful questions about internal and external threats to the country. In response, Lieutenant General Sharif assured them that Pakistan’s armed forces remain professional and fully committed to the constitution. He reaffirmed the army’s role as a regional stabilizer and a symbol of national strength.

The DG also addressed students earlier this week at Jinnah University for Women, applauding their digital engagement during the conflict with India. He emphasized the critical role youth played in countering India’s psychological operations and misinformation campaigns. He reiterated that Kashmir is Pakistan’s “jugular vein” and strongly defended Balochistan’s integral bond with the nation.

Meanwhile, on the international front, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington. The two leaders discussed strategic cooperation in fields such as trade, AI, energy, and regional security, including the recent ceasefire with India. Both sides agreed to deepen ties in counter-terrorism and emerging technologies.
