‘Ma’arka-e-haq’: Govt unveils theme for independence day 2025

Published on: July 8, 2025 11:38 PM

Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has announced that this year’s Independence Day (August 14, 2025) will be celebrated under the theme “Ma’arka-e-Haq” (The Battle for Truth) — symbolizing the nation’s ongoing commitment to truth, justice, resilience, and unity in the face of internal and external challenges.

The decision was taken during a high-level consultative meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, in Islamabad. The session was held on the special directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who has emphasized celebrating Independence Day with full national spirit, inclusion, and pride.

According to the official press release, the meeting was attended by senior officials from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated that the chosen theme aims to reflect the nation’s enduring faith, strength of character, and spirit of sacrifice in defending its values and identity. He said this year’s Independence Day will serve as a tribute to those who have struggled for democracy, rule of law, and civil rights, while also celebrating the country’s progress and resilience.

He also added that the government will organize cultural programs, youth events, awareness campaigns, and nationwide celebrations to instill a renewed sense of patriotism, especially among the younger generation. “It’s time to remind ourselves of our founding principles and reaffirm our national purpose with unity and clarity,” he remarked.

The celebration under “Ma’arka-e-Haq” is expected to highlight Pakistan’s journey through difficult times, its struggle for truth and justice, and the undeniable spirit of its people, especially in the current political and economic environment.
