PTI stands firm: Imran Khan’s sons will come back to Pakistan

Published on: July 12, 2025 4:39 PM

Islamabad: Senior PTI leader and lawyer Salman Akram Raja stated on Saturday that Imran Khan’s sons, Suleman and Qasim, have a legal and moral right to return to Pakistan. “It is their fundamental right, and they will come back,” he told reporters outside KP House in Islamabad.

The remarks came during a luncheon held in honour of PTI’s elected members of provincial and national assemblies. Opposition Leader Omar Ayub and former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur also met party members and discussed the current political strategy.

Raja revealed that a delegation of PTI parliamentarians is travelling to Lahore to hold consultations on Pakistan’s worsening economic and political crisis. He emphasized that their travel was not for protest but for peaceful political dialogue. “We are going to talk and listen to people, not create unrest,” he said. Meetings are expected to last two days.

He also criticized the government’s restrictions on PTI’s freedom of expression, saying, “Article 19 grants us the right to speak. That right has been snatched.” Raja stressed that PTI aims to reach the public directly and strengthen democratic values.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan dismissed rumours of potential arrests, adding that only parliamentarians are travelling to Lahore. He mentioned that the party is also preparing for the upcoming Senate elections, and consultations are ongoing with Punjab lawmakers to ensure coordination. “We believe democracy can only grow stronger when everyone sits together,” he concluded.
