No place for drug users in Punjab, says Azma Bukhari

Published on: July 22, 2025 7:10 PM

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has taken a firm stance against drug use in the province. In a post on social media platform X, she stated, “There is no place for drug users in Punjab.” Her statement follows the launch of a new anti-drug force aimed at tackling narcotics across the region.

Bukhari confirmed that a special counter-narcotics force has been formed to deal with drug addiction and related crimes. She also shared a video of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurating the new force, signaling a serious commitment from the government.

At a ceremony held in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz addressed the force members, urging them to serve with honesty and reject corruption. She said she admires brave individuals and respects those who stand firm in the line of duty. Her speech emphasized discipline, integrity, and zero tolerance for drug-related crime.

The chief minister also noted that Punjab’s deep-rooted problems would no longer be ignored. The formation of the new force is part of a broader effort to protect the province’s youth and restore peace in affected communities. Authorities are expected to target known drug hubs and improve coordination among agencies.

This initiative marks a major shift in Punjab’s approach to fighting drugs. Both Azma Bukhari and Maryam Nawaz have made it clear: drug abuse will not be tolerated. With political support and public pressure, the government hopes this force will bring meaningful change.
