Pakistan and India cricketers avoid contact before Asia Cup clash

Published on: September 8, 2025 4:14 PM

Tension is rising between Pakistan and Indian cricket teams ahead of their Asia Cup match. Both teams practiced for three hours at the same ground in Dubai. However, they kept to separate areas and avoided any interaction. Despite sharing the venue, players did not look at or greet each other. This behavior showed a clear distance between the two sides.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed that Indian players will compete in the Asia Cup. Still, government policies prevent them from playing bilateral matches against Pakistan. This policy limits cricketing ties between the two countries beyond the tournament. As a result, the rivalry remains tense off the field. Players maintain distance even during practice sessions.

Historically, Pakistan-India cricket matches were intense on the field but friendly off it. Players often interacted and showed sportsmanship outside games. However, the situation changed after the conflict in May this year. Since then, relations between the two teams have grown colder. The recent practice session reflected this change clearly.

The Pakistan-India match is scheduled for Sunday, September 14, in Dubai. On September 6, both teams practiced at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Even during the long three-hour practice, players stayed apart. The media expected at least a handshake or some acknowledgment. However, none of the players approached or even looked at their opponents.

Overall, the tension between the two cricket teams is palpable. It highlights the deep political and social divide affecting sportsmanship. Fans now wait to see if the players will focus on the game or the ongoing rivalry. The Asia Cup match promises to be highly charged and closely watched. Both teams must navigate this pressure on and off the field.
