US plans $6.4B arms deal with Israel

Published on: September 20, 2025 1:34 PM

The United States plans to sell $6.4 billion in weapons and military equipment to Israel. The proposed sale includes advanced helicopters, troop carriers, and other support gear. Sources confirmed that the Trump administration has asked Congress to approve the deal. The package is one of the largest in recent years. It comes as fighting in Gaza continues to escalate.

According to sources, the deal includes $3.8 billion for 30 Apache AH-64 attack helicopters. It also includes $1.9 billion for 3,250 infantry assault vehicles. An additional $750 million covers parts for armored vehicles and power systems. These items will boost Israel’s military strength. The package is currently moving through the approval process.

Meanwhile, Israel’s army has expanded its operations in Gaza City. It continues to target Hamas infrastructure using heavy airstrikes and ground troops. Thousands of Palestinians remain displaced with no safe place to flee. The Israeli military has warned it will use “unprecedented force” in Gaza. This has raised international concern over civilian casualties.

The arms deal comes ahead of the UN General Assembly in New York. Global leaders are expected to discuss the war in Gaza. The UN Security Council will also hold a high-level meeting on the conflict. Critics say the US deal may add fuel to the fire. Tensions between pro-Israel and pro-Palestine allies are already rising.

While the Trump administration strongly supports Israel, many US Democrats are divided. Several senators recently pushed for recognition of a Palestinian state. Over half of Senate Democrats voted against more arms sales to Israel. The White House has not commented on the proposed deal. Debate in Congress is expected to intensify in the coming days.
