Pakistan, Poland boost trade and energy ties

Published on: September 24, 2025 7:26 PM

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan met with Poland’s Ambassador to Pakistan Maciej Pisarski on Wednesday. They discussed ways to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, and energy between the two countries. Both leaders highlighted promising opportunities in hydrocarbons, mining, and agriculture sectors, aiming to boost mutual growth and collaboration.

Jam Kamal praised Poland’s state-owned energy firm ORLEN, which has invested around $500 million in Pakistan’s oil and gas industry over 26 years. He noted that ORLEN plans to double its investments in the coming decade, signaling strong confidence in Pakistan’s energy market. The ambassador pointed out new exploratory concessions in Sindh and Balochistan as exciting prospects but also mentioned some pending issues needing resolution to keep investors assured.

The minister invited Polish companies to join Pakistan’s agriculture value chain, especially in cold storage and processing of fruits and vegetables. He also encouraged Poland to explore Pakistan’s mining sector, emphasizing rich potential in copper and lignite. Pisarski highlighted Poland’s expertise in these fields and expressed interest in forming joint ventures.

Both sides agreed to work on concrete projects and high-level engagements to turn these discussions into real outcomes. Jam Kamal reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing a friendly environment for Polish investors. Meanwhile, Pisarski expressed Warsaw’s eagerness to strengthen its economic ties with Islamabad.

This meeting marks a positive step toward expanding Pakistan-Poland relations. The focus on energy, mining, and agriculture cooperation could bring significant benefits for both countries in trade and investment.
