Karachi Weather Update: Light Rain and Drizzle Expected Amid High Humidity

Published on: October 2, 2025 2:31 PM

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light rain and drizzle in Karachi on Thursday, as the city continues to experience humid conditions. Partial cloud cover is also expected over the next 24 hours.

The Met Office reported that the maximum temperature may reach 36°C, while the minimum recorded was 26.9°C. Humidity levels remain high at 74%, contributing to the muggy conditions across the port city.

The light rain follows a low-pressure system that recently approached the Arabian Sea. Heavy showers on Tuesday provided brief relief from the sweltering weather. However, the PMD confirmed that the system, currently located over the northeastern Arabian Sea approximately 440 km south of Karachi, is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone and is likely to dissipate in the coming days.

The PMD has advised fishermen in Sindh to avoid venturing into deep waters as a precautionary measure, although there is no immediate cyclone threat to the coast.

Moist currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to drive widespread rain and thunderstorms across southeastern Sindh, affecting Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, and adjoining districts until October 2.
