Punjab Police have arrested 45,868 drug dealers in 79,531 raids across the province so far this year, recovering over 34,000 kilograms of narcotics as part of an intensified crackdown against drug trafficking.
According to the spokesperson, the seized narcotics included 27,400 kg of charas, 2,507-kg heroin, 1,628-kg ice and 2,555 kg of opium. Additionally, 613,753 liters of liquor were also recovered from the possession of arrested individuals.
In the provincial capital Lahore, police arrested 9,531 drug dealers and recovered 4,507-kg charas, 511 kg of heroin, 928 kg of ice, 288 kg of opium and 53,507 liters of liquor.
Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar has directed all officers to further intensify special operations and to bring all individuals involved in drug supply chains to justice. He stressed the need for strict legal action and exemplary punishments to curb drug trafficking.
